It’s such a stunning sight to see when lightning strikes the sky. Of course, there’s nothing stunning about it if someone is unfortunately being struck by lightning.
The earliest recorded observations about electricity dated from about 600 BC and are attributed to the Greek philosopher Thales of Miletus. In
the 16th century, Dr. William Gilbert discovered that static electricity is created when there is friction between 2 objects. Stephen Gray pointed out that objects can be divided into conductors and non-conductors (example metal and plastic) and that the human body is a conductor itself.
At the end of the 17th century, Benjamin Franklin from America invented the lightning rod for the benefit of all mankind. The discovery and development of electricity not only changes the way we live, but also makes lives more convenient for mankind. Technology advances rapidly with the availability of electricity, and a variety of electrical and electronic products have been created, such as lights, computers, handphones, vehicles, etc.
Electricity power may be able to save lives but it may also cause fatality depending on the degree of voltage being applied. Some people may die due to lightning strike while doctors tend to use CPR devices to help revive hearts that have stopped beating.
Hence, electricity power is contradictively both a friend and a foe at the same time!
